Honoring a Legacy of Service

Nate’s 2nd Chance Housing is named in honor of Nathanial Knight, a proud military veteran and respected community member whose life was rooted in service to Phoenix, Arizona. His legacy of discipline, integrity, and care for others continues to guide the mission of this program today.

Built by an Arizona Native

Founder Tierra Abdullah, granddaughter of Nathanial Knight, is a Phoenix native with deep generational ties to Arizona. Raised in this community, Tierra understands firsthand the challenges—and the resilience—of individuals navigating re-entry.

Seeing the Gap and Responding

While serving the veteran population, Tierra identified a critical gap: veterans who were also previously justice-involved faced even greater barriers to housing. In response, Nate’s 2nd Chance Housing began serving justice-involved veterans exclusively.

As the need expanded, so did the mission—naturally growing to support justice-involved men whose backgrounds made securing safe, compliant housing nearly impossible elsewhere

Lived Experience. Real Understanding

As a product of the Arizona Department of Corrections, with parents and family members who have been justice-involved, Tierra’s commitment to this work is deeply personal.

Providing non-discriminatory, dignified housing is not just a professional mission—it is a responsibility rooted in lived experience, compassion, and accountability.

Impact Across Arizona

Since 2020, Tierra Abdullah—known affectionately as “Ms. A.” by program participants—has provided housing services throughout Arizona.

• Approved and compliant housing environments
